Murat Emre

Prof. Dr. Murat Emre, born in 1956 in Ereğli (Konya), graduated first in his class from Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1980. Following his neurology residency at the University of Zurich, he pursued advanced clinical and research training at leading centers including Queen Square National Hospital for Nervous Diseases (London), Beth Israel Hospital and Harvard Medical School (Boston). His academic career has been devoted to behavioral neurology, movement disorders, and dementia.

In 1996, he founded the Behavioral Neurology and Movement Disorders Unit at Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, which he continues to lead. He also served as Chair of the Department of Neurology (2002–2003). Internationally recognized for his contributions to Parkinson’s disease, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease, Prof. Emre has published extensively in leading journals and authored several book chapters. He is among the founders of the Turkish Alzheimer’s Association and currently serves as its President.
