AYŞE BORA TOKÇAER

Dr. Tokçaer graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty Of Medicine in 1983. After completing her civil service obligation, she worked as research assistant in the Department of Neurology at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in Ankara from 1987 t0 1993. She continued her career as a specialist and assistant professor at the same hospital. Dr. Tokçaer became an Associate Professor in 1999 and a Professor in 2007.

Dr. Ayşe Bora Tokçaer served as a visiting associate professor at the Movement Disorders Clinic at the University of Toronto, TWH  for one year in 2003-2004.

Dr. Tokçaer has been working in the field of movement disorders since 1996 and founded the Parkinson’s Disease and Mpvement Disorders Unit in the Department of Neurology at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in October 2004. She currently directs the unit.

She has also a subspeciality in Clinical Neurophysiology.

Prof. Tokçaer, is the President of Turkish Parkinson’s Disease Society. She is also a member of Turkish Neurological Society, the Turkish Clinical Neurophysiology EEG-EMG Association and the Movement Disorders Society.

He has contributed to the field through over 60 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and several book chapters, with an H-index of 17 on Web of Science. He has also been actively involved in neurosurgical education and training at Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa since 2014, mentoring medical students and residents as part of his academic role.

In addition to his work in education and research, he is a member of the Turkish Neurosurgical Society, the International Epilepsy Surgery Society, and the Deep Brain Stimulation Society. He currently serves as the President of the Division of Stereotactic and Functional Surgery of the Turkish Neurosurgical Society.
