
Professor Attila YILMAZ, MD, received his medical degree from Istanbul University, Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine in 2000. After completing his residency at the University of Mustafa Kemal, he fulfilled his compulsory service and joined the Department of Neurosurgery at the same university as an instructor. While serving as an instructor, he undertook an observership at the University of Florida Center for Movement Disorders and Neuro-restoration, as well as at the University of Florida Health Shands Hospital, where he collaborated with Prof. Kelly D. Foote and Prof. Michael S. Okun in 2016 and 2017.
Professor YILMAZ’s major fields of interest include Functional Neurosurgery and interventional Neuromodulation approaches. His work in these areas has been extensively published. He teaches several hands-on courses, cadaver courses, and live surgery courses for physicians on performing neuromodulation surgeries. Professor YILMAZ has actively mentored and trained over 30 neurosurgical fellows and observers. He has pioneered the establishment of numerous neuromodulation centers both nationally and internationally and has introduced neuromodulation applications for the first time in many countries. Additionally, he has significant experience in war surgery.

He currently serves as Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Istanbul Health and Technology University,
Chair at the Movement Disorders and Neuromodulation Center at Ataşehir Medicana International Hospital in Istanbul, Turkey.
